Elevate

A Travel Ad

final version of travel ad

The Project

  • A travel ad to advertise a new, non-stop route from YVR Airport to a previously unscheduled destination for Bold Traveler magazine, a Canadian print & online publication aimed at an upscale market. I chose Queenstown, NZ as a new ski trip destination. My primary audience included women with disposable income and travel frequently to offer a new, possibly overlooked destination for ski trips/girls weekends away.
  • The ad was to be a composite of images done in Photoshop. I chose to flip the ad vertically in an effort to create a more eye catching ad, leading to a reader noticing, then interacting with the ad by flipping the magazine.
  • This was the first project I did completely comped in Photoshop, as well as the first using a more thorough design process, starting with a mood board and sketches and creating a contact sheet and process book at the end. This introduction to a more complete design process was incredibly useful and demonstrated the need for multiple design steps, even if using just stick figure sketches.
