A Movie Poster
The Project
- A movie poster based on an assigned storyline and genre which several non-negotiable elements were required, such as studio logos, a credits billing block, release date, MPAA ratings bug and top billing actor’s names.
- I was provided a storyline in the Comedy-Drama genre to appeal to all audiences and had a PG rating. This presented me with a challenge, as it was not typically a genre of film I’m familiar with or usually consume, but researching common poster elements for these kind of films helped shape the design. Another difficulty arose with the requirement to use only stock photos, as the storyline had five diverse characters to feature prominently. I was able to work around this for the final design and it provided valuable experience when faced with these obstacles.
- This project afford a wealth of learning experiences, as it went through several critique rounds. It was also a valuable lesson in understanding to design for a client, who may have different perspectives on a design and overcoming those with my own solutions as well as incorporating feedback to provide a satisfying end result.
